What we collect
When you create an account we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, a cryptographically hashed version of your password (we never store the password itself), a record of your consent to the Terms of Service and marketing emails (timestamp and terms version), and whether your email address has been confirmed. While you use the Service we keep standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability.
How we use it
Your email is used to operate your account (sign-in, security notices) and — with the consent you gave at signup — to send the Newsamp newsletter and other marketing emails. Consent records exist so we can demonstrate compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except for service providers that help us run the Service (for example email delivery), bound by their own confidentiality obligations.
Unsubscribing and deleting your data
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also withdraw consent by writing to bfalkner9@gmail.com. To delete your account and associated personal data entirely, email us from the registered address and we will action it within 30 days, except where we must retain records to meet legal obligations.
Cookies
We use a single essential session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Storage and security
Account data is stored on infrastructure we control, with passwords hashed using bcrypt and access limited to the operator. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information we will notify you as required by law.
